Hi I have recently bought a house and need to give my timber railing and steps a face lift what product would be most suitable?

Your handrail along with your timber steps falls along the same category as reviving a deck. The handrails must be sanded back to timber and washed with Cabot's 1L Deck Clean. The timber steps must be sanded down as well to remove the dead fibres on its surface and washed with deck clean as well. Once the surfaces are dry you can then paint it over Cabot's 2L Brown Timbercolour Deck And Exterior Paint which appears to be the paint used on the timber rail and deck.
However, I suggest going to your local store and having a look at the decking oil and stain sample boards so that you can see the actual finish. Should you find a colour that is closer to the one I suggested then it would be best to get that colour instead.
