Sourcing a Termite Impregnated Strip?

I'm building a deck in the backyard that will be connected to the house and there's a requirement to have a "termite impregnated strip between bearer and existing dwelling to AS3660.1" 

Any ideas where I can but the strips from (preferably in Melb south-east suburbs)? product names?

Hi @BenCor,

For a strip which is required by a building code, I'm not seeing a lot of reference to them being for sale online. Was it a strip impregnated with poison to kill termites or a strip of steel/plastic that the termites could not eat through? I have certainly heard of requirements for gaps and materials termite can't chew through. There also appears to be membranes available but whether that falls under the classification of a strip I'm not sure.

Perhaps your best bet would be to call up a few termite specialists and ask if they install products which reach this building requirement.

Another quick one - I need 2 of 90x45mm F7 treated pine bearers connected to make a 90x90 bearer. I presume F7 is the same as the MPG treated pine sold at Bunnings?

Hi @BenCor,

These are two different yet somewhat similar grades of timber. MGP10 has a higher stiffness grade while F7 has a slightly higher strength grade. If plans have been provided, it is important to purchase the exact grade of timber specified to ensure that structural integrity is maintained. 

Generally, you'll find our posts and LOSP products with an F7 grade. Our Treated Pine Outdoor Timber Framing 90 x 45mm is rated MGP10.

If you are not working with a plan but only to timber span tables requirements then you can be confident in using F7 or MGP10 in your construction.
