What can I replace these boards with?

Hi all,

I am looking to replace these wooden boards that have been installed to cover up old mailbox cavities at the front of the a unit block.

They are old and ratty but I’m not sure what material would be best to replace them with. Ideally something that will last a while, is clean and relatively modern and can be fixed to brick!

Thank you in advance!

Re: What can I replace these boards with?

Hello @rubyave

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about replacing your cover boards.

I suggest looking at the 140 x 19mm Merbau SpecRite Pre-Oiled Decking - Random Lengths or the 90 x 22mm Decking H3 Treated Pine - 2.4m. These are long lasting panels meant to be used outdoors; however, it would not hurt to paint or oil them to extend their service life. Once you've removed the old panels simply make sure that you cover it with same height and length. Double check that the brick wall plugs are still in good condition otherwise just replace them with same size and reuse the galvanized hex screws if they are not rusting.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi @rubyave,

That looks pretty close to perfect to me.

Thank you for the update and congratulations on a job well done.
