What chlorine for a salt water pool?

Hello Team,

I'm looking for a chlorine powder for my pool. I have a salt water pool so there is a chlorinator  already making chlorine using the salt water in the pool. I need chlorine powder to clean the some dirt(very fine particles) that just remains at  the base of pool. The pool cleaner last year added powder chlorine powder and those dirt completely disappeared. Please advise the similar/appropriate chlorine powder product that i can get from bunnings  for my pool.

Thank you

Dibesh

Re: Chlorine for a salt water pool

Hi @dbase92000,

It sounds like you might be looking for Hy-Clor 1kg Pool Blackspot and Algae Remover, which is suitable for use in saltwater pools.

Note this product is not for use in painted, vinyl or fibreglass pools and can only be used in tiled, Pebblecrete and white plaster pools.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Chlorine for a salt water pool

Thank you Michell. Beside the above product you mentioned, Is there any other chlorine powder products for my pool that I can use found in Bunnings?

Re: Chlorine for a salt water pool

There are plenty of other chlorine powder products for general pool maintenance @dbase92000. However, the one linked above is the only direct contact product for hard-to-shift spots.

Re: Chlorine for a salt water pool

Just to clarify, @dbase92000, as I might have misinterpreted your question, are these fine particles attached to the bottom of the pool, like a stain, or do they float around the bottom? If it's a stain, use the Blackspot and Algae remover. However, if these are fine particles at the bottom of the pool, then you would vacuum them to waste to remove them. They might be so fine that your filter is not collecting them, and they are being recirculated back into the pool. What the pool cleaner might have done is add Floculant to the pool, which would typically cause the fine particles to clump together and be captured by the filter.

If you pop your filter onto the waste setting and then hand vacuum the particles, that will suck them up and pump them out of the pool. Remember to switch your filter back to recirculate after you're done.

Re: Chlorine for a salt water pool

Thank you Mitchell, After using floculant, i can also use robot vacuum that has its own filter and box ya?

Re: Chlorine for a salt water pool

Depends on what type of filter it has, @dbase92000. The filter would need to be fine enough to capture the particles. My robot vacuum only has a net, which those particles would pass straight through. Typically, you should use a vacuum head on a pole and turn the suction to waste so you remove the particles from the pool entirely.
