Can I please have advice on fence and retaining wall colour. Have a tiny backyard which is just a 4x3 metre deck with a grey pergola on it. Were thinking of dark grey or black for fence with a different or lighter color on retaining wall. Please help.

Hi @shaz03,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
It would certainly be worthwhile heading into your local store to grab some colour cards so you can take them home and compare them in place.
For a small backyard with a grey pergola, a dark grey or black fence is a great choice as it will help the space feel bigger and make greenery and features stand out. You can pair it with a lighter colour for the retaining wall, like soft grey, beige, or off-white, to brighten the space and keep it from feeling closed in. Stick to neutral tones that complement each other, and test samples in natural light before painting.

Hi @shaz03
It really comes down to personal taste. But as @JacobZ has mentioned, lighter colours will provide a more open feeling of space over darker ones. Sticking to colourbond colours will allow you to match the colouring of trims like your window frames, guttering and facia boards.
Looking at your furniture, I would go with something like Dune, Gully or Shale Grey. Gully is the darker, but will be more forgiving over time as the fence palings wear. You will be able to get sample pots from the paint dept to do a few test spots.

Thankyou that sounds brilliant
Hi @shaz03,
I think you'll find that two of the most popular colours for fences are Dulux Domino and Monument as they provide a dramatic background for greenery.
You will find lots of great examples shared by Bunnings Workshop members. Check out 10 easy fence painting makeovers for starters.

Thankyou I think I will go with the Monument and maybe a lighter grey on the bottom retaining wall.
