ekodeck mounting question double fascia

Hi crew,

I’m working out how many clips I’ll need to install Ekodeck on a timber subframe and want to double-check the correct clip setup at the fascia edges.

The deck is 6 m in length, so the boards are laid in a brickwork pattern. I’ll have fascia boards on two sides, using Ekodeck edge boards, with four standard boards on top. Product is Leatherwood Designer Series with 6 mm gaps.

At the fascia edge where the top boards start, I’ve seen guides showing a C-clip used to start the run. My question is about the opposite side of the board run, where the top boards meet the fascia again.

Do I need to use another C-clip on that side, or can I use standard locking clips to secure the boards against the fascia?
What will be the best process for this?

I’ve attached a few very high-quality drawings to try and explain the layout and edge detail 😂.

Any advice from people who’ve done a similar setup would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Joel

Re: ekodeck mounting question double fascia

Hi @joelharrisonau,

With your design, you would use a C-clip on both sides of the deck; you would just need to ensure they are located so there is a consistent gap at each side of the deck between the board and the fascia. You would then use the standard clips between the boards, with a locking clip used at the centre-most fixing point of each board.

This is assuming that you've planned out your deck frame to fit the spacing exactly. If you needed to rip down the boards on either end, you would have to face fix them with your decking screws as the grooves would be removed.

The product manual, which can be found here - Ekodeck Decking | Designer Series | Installation Guides & Videos - is going to be the best resource for you.

Let me know what you think, and if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob
