how to stop water seeping underneath front doors

hi, we have a double door front door, doors open internally and are sat at the top of queenslander stairs. We have had a few incidents of rain flooding in under the doors. Any suggestions on the best things to use please? we did read a similar post and was looking at the raven rp3, but we have DOUBLE doors, so unsure if this would work?

thanks

Re: how to stop water seeping underneath front doors

Hi @fairystar,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Problems like this rarely have one single solution, so seeing what you are working with will certainly help. Can I trouble you to upload some images of your door?

Let me know if you require assistance with this. I am happy to help if required.

As you're already aware, a door bottom seal can do a lot of good. Unfortunately, the RP3 is designed for single inward-opening doors, so it would not be suitable. The Raven RP4, which is kept in stock in most stores, or the RP54 seal, which can be ordered through the Special Orders desk of your local store, would be suitable, and with the combination of the threshold seal and the bottom door seal, you will get a solid seal to prevent water from getting in. These seals require a gap of at least 23mm under your door, though, so if the gap is not large enough, you may need to cut your door back to accommodate it.

You might also want to consider reducing how much rain is reaching the doorway in the first place. Installing an awning above the doors can make a significant difference. By limiting the amount of direct rain hitting the doors and landing, an awning can greatly reduce the chance of water pooling at the threshold and seeping inside during heavy downpours.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions or details to add, I can certainly assist further.

Re: how to stop water seeping underneath front doors

thanks so much, we went and bought the R4, husband is fitting as we speak. Also bought pvc flashing for above door, for quick solution now,  as awnings in stock arent big enough, so will order an awning too. thanks again
