Hi, need advise for removal of the existing paint on the outdoor wooden balustrade and put a coat of white paint. Is there any chemical I can use or anything else?

Re: timber paint removal

Hi @ashishtyagi,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

I'd suggest using a paint stripper such as this Polystrippa Paint Stripper, alongside a 100mm Sharp Edge Paint Scraper, to remove the majority of the paint.

This should remove the majority of the paint, then you can smooth and prepare the timber by sanding it with some 80-grit sandpaper. If there is any residual paint, this will help to remove it.

Once prepared, you'll have to use an external paint such as Dulux Weathershield, Wattyl Solagard or Taubmans All Weather. You'll need to use a minimum of two coats.

Let me know what you think, and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob
