Hi everyone!
I live in a rental but want to put up some floating shelves. I was wondering if there is a way to do it without drilling into the wall or causing any damage?
Has anyone had any luck with 3M strips etc? I don’t plan to put anything overly heavy on them.
Thanks in advance!
Hi @Ash_,
At this point I think you need to forget the floating thing and use something like an open back shelving unit.
When you say 'drilling' is the wall plasterboard or brick and post some photos of that.
Cheers
Hi @Ash_,
Unfortunately, an adhesive strip would not be capable of supporting the shelf itself, let alone anything placed on top of the shelf.
There is no method that I'm aware of for mounting a floating shelf that doesn't involve drilling into the wall.
I would consider something like the Clever Cube storage units instead.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

My recommendation would be to speak to the landlord about your request, as a floating shelf (correctly installed) might be an asset to the property.
