Spline diameter for flyscreen mesh

Hi there!

I'm planning to build a couple of fly screens for my place. The resources here have been very handy in planning it out.

However, I can't figureout what's the appropriate spline diameter to buy.

What would fit hte Pillar 25mm x 2.5m flyscreen frame?

Thank you in advanced!

Re: Spline diameter for flyscreen mesh

Hi @eddiefransy,

Depends on the type of mesh fiberglass or the metal type.

Standby... looking...

From one of my blog posts 6mm/fiberglass and 4.5mm/metal.

I made a special note of the above; was replacing fiberglass with metal (Cockatoo damage) and with no reading glasses grabbed the 6mm one.

Cheers

Thanks @AlanM52 , I just noted that as well on the spline packaging! Will be buying the bits tomorrow and see how we go!

Re: Spline diameter for flyscreen mesh

Hi @eddiefransy,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

I'm so glad to see @AlanM52 has already jumped in to help with some great advice.

As he mentioned, 4a .5mm spline is used for thicker flyscreen, like the metal variants, whereas 6mm is used for thinner options like fibreglass.

You might like to check out How To Replace Flyscreen Mesh for a bit of guidance on the process if you haven't already done so.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist with.

Jacob
