Do you need to waterproof the whole bathroom?

I have a new bathroom; the floor is concrete the walls are villaboard on stud work. The ceiling is Aquachek plasterboard. The walls and floor will be tiled. There will be a wash basin, toilet and shower. The shower is going in one corner, a resin tray with its built-in screen. As I understand it the walls around the shower from floor to a minimum of 1.8m height around the walls of the shower need to be waterproofed.
Is there any other area in the bathroom that should be waterproofed?
Many thanks😊

Re: Top 10 most popular bathroom projects

Hello @ironbark

Thank you for sharing your question about your bathroom renovation. Before you begin, I suggest checking with your local council on their rules and regulations regarding waterproofing your bathroom. Some states require that a  licensed waterproof installation specialist install the waterproofing in your bathroom.

It's best to double-check what is and what is not allowed rather than have to redo the waterproofing.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
