Good evening,
I hope this message finds you all very well.
I just would like to ask what would be the best quality from number 1 to 3 etc.. to build as a laundry countertop?
and what material would we need to build it?
We don’t want to place it directly on the washing chine. It has to have a space between the top of the washing machine.
Thank you
Hello @jodieandbrett9
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about laundry benchtops.
Using Specrite 2200 x 600 x 26mm Timber Multi Use Pine Panel would be at the level of good as it is easy to cut and can be painted, sealed or stained in your preferred colour. It is strong and robust plus it can be refinished should the surface get damaged. Next would be laminated benchtops which is better as it has a very strong surface that can withstand a bit of abuse, and its surface is impervious to moisture. However, should the surface get damaged it is difficult to repair. The last type of benchtop is a resin or artificial surface construct which falls under the category of best. This type of benchtop is very strong and is impervious to moisture. However, it is heavy and is the most expensive among the three.
These benchtops can be installed over your washing machine on the condition that there are walls around the area that can be used as mounting points for angle brackets and support pieces to hold the benchtop in place. If you can tell us the design of your laundry space along with its measurements, I'll be more than happy to draw up a quick sketch which you can then use as a reference for your project.
