cornice scribe

Hello......

Framing out a stud wall and have removed cornice so the timber can go closer to the ceiling. Gyprock is about to go in and then I need to add cornice. Been hoping I can scribe the cornice onto the existing peice and just have a seamless transition, much like skirting board.  BUt I'm having a hard time executing

I've traced the symphony profile onto cardboard and then the cornice and cut out the cornice as best I could. But it's not fitting right.

Is there another step that needs to happen ?, does the new. Ornice need to be mitred first and

Thanks 20260119_161313.jpg20260119_161325.jpg20260119_161328.jpg20260119_161350.jpgthen scribed?
