Unscrewed this shower head to clean it (whole unit bought from Bunnings and all original parts)
the head will not fit back on.
The piece on top of the shower head is too small for the shower are attachment .
it went on when it was installed so I don’t get why it does not fit now
@I give up
Please don't give up. It came off - it must go on. The thread looks good.
Is it more of a comfortable position (different step ladder) and calm persistence required?
Large diameter = more chance of cross-threading.
Try again, take your time - go slowly.
What do you call this plastic ring that has a split ?
it fits around my shower head ball that stops it from falling out from the fitting when screwed in
This one has snapped and I cannot find a replacement or alternative
shower head was bought from Bunnings
Appreciate any help
Thanks
Hi @Igiveup,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.
As @Noyade said, please don't give up. The fact that it was on before means it will go back on.
Check the threads to see if there is any debris or misaligned parts. While everything looks good from what I can see, there might be something that your photos don't show.
Getting yourself in a better position to see the connection would also help. A step or step ladder would be the way to do this. Also, make sure you can comfortably use both hands.
Persistence is key. I am confident that you can get it back on.
Let us know how you go.

I worked out the problem but this part has snapped in half so the ball joint slips out and the shower head falls off.
Can't find a replacement part anywhere!
Hello @Igiveup
I suggest visiting your local store and speaking to the special orders team in regards to the spare part you are after. I believe it is referred to as a shower head ball joint washer. If you can remember the make and model of your shower head, it will definitely help the team track down the spare part for you. My best advice is to bring the part with you so that the team can examine and measure it.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
