What pressure cleaner do you recommend?

PressureWasher.jpgThe Karcher 1400w k2 Basic Plus High-Pressure Cleaner is suitable for cleaning around the home and car. I've personally been using similar powered units for many years now and haven't had any issues.

What is worth considering though is the effectiveness of those units. A unit with a 1400w motor producing 1600psi will do the job, but it will do it significantly slower than the next model up, the Ryobi 1800W 2030 PSI Pressure Washer. This continues incrementally up the range as the more you pay the bigger the motor and the faster the job will get done.

Another thing to consider is the width of the jet of water that is produced. The cheaper models generally have a thin jet producing a narrow stream of effective cleaning area. Over a large surface area, it increases the amount of time taken to clean it.

Accessories which come with the unit also factor into the cost. Would a patio cleaning head be beneficial, do you wish to dispense soap onto your car, is changing jet spray needed? All things that are worth considering given they will add to the versatility of the product.

The unit I am currently using and have been most happy with is the Gerni 1500w 1810psi Classic High-Pressure Cleaner. The benefits of this model are the cleaning power is higher than the base model, a patio head for large surface areas, two jet attachments, a 6-metre hose and a foam dispersal bottle. This is the cheapest unit that provides the most accessories and features within the range.

I'd have to say using a pressure cleaner is one of the very few joys of cleaning the exterior of a property. It's an absolute delight to see moss, dirt and algae get blasted away to reveal a beautifully clean surface underneath. - MitchellMc

I used my Gerni Classic 115.5 for the first time yesterday and it is one of the best items that I have ever purchased. - Trisha

As a birthday gift for myself I decided to buy the Ryobi 2000psi Pressure Washer w/ deck cleaning system. It comes with an extra wand and a round head cleaning attachment. This is what I really wanted it for as our brick walk way was getting way too dirty and full of moss becoming a slipping hazard. The attachment was easy enough to assemble and click in to the pressure washers gun with no issues. The area was about 2 meters x by 10 meters and was cleaned within 1 1/2 hours. My boys having heard the machine operate decided to come out and asked me if they could have a go! Who am I to say no. So they actually took over the cleaning with me just supervising till the end. It was an effective cleaner and I did not have to use any chemicals what so ever. It is a fantastic pressure washer and I highly recommend it. - redracer01

Ryobi 2000PSI pressure washer. So good! Love it more than any other I've used before including Karcher. Absolutely made my pavers round the pool look brand new and did it efficiently. I've used the Karcher on them before, with less dirt/buildup and they didn't look as good as they do now. - ProjectPete

Hi Mitch, hope you are doing well! I saw this amazing post about your recommendations about a pressure washer. Do you think they can be used in multiple settings for example - patio/cement, side walls where there will be algae and lastly everyone's favorite, the garage flooring (a few pictures attached)? PatioPatioSide wallSide wallGarageGarageThanks again for your inputs.

Hello @mukeshkaura

It's great that this post has inspired you to get your own pressure washer. I've used the Ryobi 2000W 2200PSI Pressure Washer both in my brick walkway and in my garage. I believe it is the Ryobi Pressure Washer Extension Patio Cleaning Kit that made the difference. I've used this attachment to clean my vertical brick wall as it had moss, mold, and mildew on it as well and it came out beautifully. Just keep in mind that that the Ryobi 2000W can be purchased with the patio cleaning kit included.

Here is the link when I used the Ryobi 2000W:  Ryobi 2000psi Pressure Washer w/ deck and pavement cleaner
