Hi all. I recently purchased a Dy-Mark Epoxy Coat solvent based kit (for a double garage), and after carefully preparing the concrete as the kit instructs, I bit the bullet and got stuck in to the task this afternoon. I got a little more than 3/4 done when a giant, fast moving storm came over, and unfortunately for me, water flowed into the garage under the roller door (I might add that had I had an inkling inclement weather was forecast, I would not have started when I did). I think the back half of the floor will be ok, but not so the front (about 1/4 not done at all, and the remainder was still very wet, as I literally just painted it). I figured that rather than a complete right-off, once fully dry in the days to come, I could sand back the front half, and apply the single garage kit, also sold at Bunnings…but alas, it is a water based kit, which apparently is not compatible with the solvent based kit already used. Why Dy-Mark doesn’t make a single garage sized solvent based kit is beyond me, but that’s my issue, and I would be keen to hear of any possible solutions people may have, if any.
Hello @JK09,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your epoxy coating incident.
I suspect that this is not an isolated occurrence and a similar incident has probably happened to others as well. In this particular instance, I suggest contacting Dy-Mark technical direct and asking them if the coating you placed can still be salvaged. I'm sure they will have a lot of questions in regards to time of application and up to what level you were along the installation process. We'll give them a call tomorrow as well and describe to them what's happened and see if they have any recommendations they can offer.
If you wish to contact Dy-Mark direct you can call them on 1300 396 275 or email them on sales@dymark.com.au. As soon as we have more information, we'll get back to you.
Thank you for your patience.
Eric
Hello @JK09
It's good to hear that you've contacted Dy-Mark and they have provided you with sound advice. My best advice is to make sure that you'll have good sunny weather for the next few days when you decide to reapply the epoxy coating.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
