Re: how to remove marks from garage door

Hello @24121984

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your garage door.

I suggest doing a quick cleaning test with a sponge and some dishwashing liquid. Wash a small section of the garage door to see if the stain can be removed from the surface. I recommend being vigorous to see if it is just surface stains or if the surface paint or cover has been damaged. If the stain comes off, then it is safe to conclude that there is something at the top of the garage door that is brushing up against it and is causing the stain to go onto the doors surface. It might have been just brushing up against it and not really pushing onto it but the repeated action might have caused it to mark the door.

Your next step is to investigate the gap between the garage door and the top of the door entry. Is there a rubber flashing or brush sealer that is rubbing up against the door? If there is, this is why you are getting marks on your door. It will either have to be cleaned or replaced so that it does not mark the surface of the garage door. Please have a look and tell us what you can see.

In the meantime, I propose doing a water and detergent wash on the surface. For stubborn stains I suggest using De-Solv-it 125ml Sticky Spot and Stain Remover. However, if it is surface damage, it might be necessary to repaint the garage door surface.

Please let us know its current condition after you've washed it, we'll be more than happy to provide more recommendations if it needs a revamp.

Eric
