So after a visit to the Rouse Hill store, we were allowed access to available pallets to strip for good timber.
After a few cuts with the hand saw and jigsaw and a few screws later, we managed to create a great planter box.
another super weekend with my son learning the use of recycling and getting the satisfaction of building something from scratch. Total cost $24 for the potting mix 4 bags.
Box Size 900wx400dx320h

Legs 450h

Re: Elevated planter box from pallets

Hello @DiamondDave

That is one heavy duty planter box! Fantastic diy build as always. Thank you so much for providing step by step pictures of the build. I'm sure this will come in handy for our community members who are thinking of building one for themselves. Looking forward to your next project!

Cheers

Red

Re: Elevated planter box from pallets

What a fantastic recycling project @DiamondDave! I have to say I find it exceptional that you are once again getting your son involved with the build.

It looks like you have really caught the pallet bug now! If you are anything like me, you'll be happily recycling pallets for years to come. When I got heavily into making pallet projects, I invested in a Ryobi One+ 18V Gen II Reciprocating Saw. Combined with a long steel cutting blade, it goes through the nails in a pallet like butter. All you need to do is cut down between the runner timber and the pallet boards. You'll have the pallets disassembled in seconds. It's the best purchase I've made and saves me hours of work. In the interim, you might like to consider a Mumme 1260mm Reno Bar for levering the boards off.

Many thanks for sharing this wonderful project and I look forward to the next one.

Mitchell
