Hi @regbrown,
To replace the line on your whipper snipper, you’ll first need to remove the red knob on the front. It can be tricky if it’s worn, as it might not turn easily by hand. Use a pair of adjustable pliers to grip it and try turning it anti-clockwise to loosen. If that doesn’t work, you can also try turning it clockwise, but generally it should unscrew anti-clockwise.
Once the red knob is removed, which includes a bolt, the front part of the internal cartridge will come off. At that point, you can rewind the line onto the spool. After rewinding, replace the cartridge, feeding the line through the eyelets on the side of the head as you go and screw the red knob back on to secure it.
If you run into any trouble removing or refitting the knob, I'd recommend taking the machine into your nearest Bunnings store and speaking with a Power Gardening Expert. They should be able to assist with removal, replacement of the winder knob and also be able to take you through our replacement heads, like the Ryobi Reel-Easy Speedwinder.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
