Hello,

Does anyone know how to set up a remote sprinkler where I can control remotely when I travel around the world?

Re: Remote Sprikler

Hello @buyurownflowers

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about setting up a remote sprinkler.

Would it be possible for you to sketch up the layout of your garden area with measurements included? Can you also please include the location of your garden tap? In order to save on water, I suggest having a look at installing a drip irrigation system instead. I suggest having a look at this guide - How to install a drip irrigation watering system by @Adam_W. This will give you a general idea of how to set up your irrigation set.

Here are some discussions that will help:

Re: Remote Sprikler

Hello Alan,

how would the wifi connected turn the tap for the time scheduled?

I thought there should have been manually turned on?

thanks,

Hi Eric,

I have just 2x3X3 front and back small yard/garden.

Thank you for your comment.

Re: Remote Sprikler

Hi @buyurownflowers,

In an automated system, the tap always remains on, and the flow is controlled by the timing unit, which is connected to it. In the case of the Holman WX1 Tap Timer and Wi-Fi Hub, which Alan mentioned, it allows water to flow from the tap to the irrigation system during your set times. The timer can be accessed via the Wi-Fi hub in the Holman app on your phone, anywhere in the world with Wi-Fi.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell

Re: Remote Sprikler

CC: @buyurownflowers,

I always use and when helping others recommend garden hose crimped connections and that also applies to controllers that have burst detection.

Cheers

Re: Remote Sprikler

Hello MitchellMc,

Aw … that truly explains. So I will turn the tap on but it won’t water flow it to the device. Only when the timer runs for the set schedule.

Correct me if I am wrong.

I will try to buy one this week and try one ☝️

Thank you so much for your valuable comment 🙏

Re: Remote Sprikler

Hi MitchellMc,

Shall I buy the automated tap 🚰 and change the one I had.

In other words I will need to call a plumber to do so.

cheers,

Aylie

Re: Remote Sprikler

Hello @buyurownflowers

On the condition that you have a standard garden tap with a 20mm outlet the timer will fit easily and there is no need to change garden taps. If you wish to access the tap with the timber will attached, I suggest installing a Pope 2 Way Brass Threaded Tap. This allows the timer to be attached along with a standard garden hose.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
