How to revive the lawn after using weed killer?

IMG_9085.jpeg

I used Slasher weed killer and even the grass has died. What should I do to revive the lawn and that won’t cost me a lot of money? Help please. Thank you

Re: How to revive the lawn

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @ellenjo. It's a pleasure to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about lawn repair.

Unfortunately, Slasher is only suitable for spot-spraying weeds in a lawn and will also kill any lawn it comes into contact with. I’m really sorry to see that your grass has been affected like this.

If the spraying was done very recently (within the last few days), you could try flooding the lawn with water to dilute any remaining residue in the soil and hopefully minimise further damage. However, judging by the extent of the die-off, the damage has most likely already occurred.

You could try applying a seaweed-based tonic to help stimulate any surviving roots and see if some recovery is possible, but given how widespread the damage appears to be, it’s likely that you’ll need to remove the dead areas and either reseed or lay new turf. In some cases, starting fresh can actually be the more cost-effective option in the long run, particularly if the existing lawn has been extensively damaged.

Here are some helpful guides: How to grow grass from seed and How to lay turf.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: How to revive the lawn

Thank you so much for your help and explanation Mitchell. I will try to use the Seasol first and hopefully it will work. Is there a ready to use bottle that can be attached to a hose to spray it?

Re: How to revive the lawn

Hello @ellenjo

Yes, I propose looking at the Seasol 2 x 2L Hose On Complete Garden Health Treatment - Twin Pack.  Regular doses of Seasol throughout the year will help plants to cope with stresses like heat, drought, frost, pests and diseases. Plus it stimulates beneficial micro-organisms in the soil, which are essential for healthy soil and plants.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: How to revive the lawn

Hello Eric,

Thank you for your response. I have bought the seasol and already sprayed in the lawn. I will update you guys about the outcome.

Cheers,

Ellen
