Re: Whats wrong with my happy wanderer?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @tahnim. It's amazing to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about you Happy Wanderer plant.

The chew marks on the leaves could very well be caused by caterpillars. If it’s only a few leaves here and there, it’s nothing to be too concerned about—plants can tolerate a small amount of chewing. If the damage becomes more widespread, you could try spraying with a product like Dipel, which is a caterpillar-specific biological control and safe for other insects.

As for the leaves turning reddish, that can sometimes be a natural response to environmental stress—cooler temperatures, particularly in autumn and winter, can trigger this kind of colour change in some varieties. If the plant otherwise looks healthy and is growing well, it’s likely not a problem. However, if you notice poor growth or other signs of decline, it might be worth checking the soil drainage, light levels, and whether the plant might be under- or over-watered.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
