How to support tomatoes that are making branches sag?

Hi! This is the first year I’ve branched out and gone for some bigger tomatoes rather than cherry and they are growing really well with fruit coming in. The problem I’m having is that th fruit is too heavy for the branches and causing them to drop. I’ve already staked them to a pole but I’m not sure what else I can do.

Re: Tomato fruit too heavy

Hi @simba25,

Nice work, your tomatoes are looking absolutely brilliant!

The best fix is to give them extra support by adding more garden stakes or using a tomato cage, like @AlanM52 mentioned, to help spread the weight more evenly.

Tie the branches gently to the supports with soft plant ties so they don’t cut into the stems.

Check out How To Grow Tomatoes and the wider series on tomatoes for some further guidance.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob
