What mortar for brick garden bed?

I am building a garden bed. I have laid strong concrete footing and need mortar to build about 7 bricks high. Will the pre-mixed mortar be ok for this? What is the difference between the dingo mortar and brickies sand and cement?

Hi @Samc1234,

Mortar is just sand mixed with cement at a ratio of about 1 part cement to 4 parts sand. You'll find that anything labelled mortar or sand and cement is more or less the same thing in different packaging.

There are products called structural mortars, which have additional additives, but they are used for other purposes and would not be necessary in this situation.

I would just grab a few bags of the Bastion 20kg Mortar Mix; it will be perfect for this.
