American slushie max

Hi, bought the ninja slushie max from Amazon (thought it was Australian) and it had an American plug

 

have been told that I won't be able to use it without risking it blowing up. Any advise available would be appreciated. Thank you

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

The product you've purchased is designed to run on 120 volts, whereas Australian power is 240 volts. The plug shape is only part of the issue. Even if you use a simple plug adaptor, the appliance will still receive more than double the voltage it is designed for, which can cause it to fail, overheat, or in the worst case cause a fire or permanent damage.

I'd suggest you return the product as it is not suitable for use in Australia.
