I have had some experience in using/adjusting “European Hinges” in one IKEA kitchen and two Kaboodle kitchens but generally this is a struggle as I forget which screws control which direction and also what the angles mean. Turning to Gemini (Google’s AI app) I received this answer which I am sharing below. This is a good overview of Kaboodle hinges (without unfortunately guidance on how to adjust in the three directions) which some may find useful (any errors in the answer gratefully received):
Kaboodle Kitchen, being a popular flat-pack kitchen supplier in Australia and New Zealand (sold primarily through Bunnings), offers a range of European hinges designed to integrate seamlessly with their cabinetry. While they generally stick to the standard European hinge types, they offer them with different functionalities.
Here's a list of common Kaboodle hinges, categorised by their function and how they relate to the generic European hinge types:
Kaboodle Standard Door Hinge
* Name: Kaboodle Standard Door Hinge
* Angle: 110° opening angle.
* Function: This is Kaboodle's basic, most commonly used hinge. It's a full overlay hinge, meaning it's designed for doors that completely cover the cabinet carcase or face frame. It provides a straightforward self-closing action (the spring pulls the door shut). It's adjustable in 3 directions (up/down, left/right, in/out) and features a quick-release (clip-on) 4-hole hinge plate for easy installation and removal.
* Use Case: General purpose doors on base, wall, and pantry cabinets where soft-close isn't required or desired for budget reasons.
Kaboodle Soft Close Door Hinge
* Name: Kaboodle Soft Close Door Hinge (often also available as a "Hettich Soft Close Door Hinge" which is a premium alternative from a well-known German brand).
* Angle: 110° opening angle (standard).
* Function: This is the same type of full overlay hinge as the standard one, but it incorporates a built-in soft-close mechanism (a concealed piston or damper). This prevents the door from slamming shut, providing a smooth and silent closing action. It also offers 3-way adjustment and a clip-on plate.
* Use Case: Ideal for most kitchen cabinet doors where a premium, quiet closing experience is desired.
Kaboodle Push To Open Door Hinge
* Name: Kaboodle Push To Open Door Hinge (also available as "Hettich Push To Open Door Hinge").
* Angle: Typically 110° opening angle.
* Function: This hinge is designed for handle-less cabinet doors. It has a spring mechanism that, when the door is lightly pushed, causes it to spring open slightly. This allows for a clean, minimalist aesthetic in the kitchen. It does not have a soft-close function as its purpose is to push the door out.
* Use Case: For achieving a minimalist, handle-less look on standard full overlay doors.
Kaboodle Bi-Fold Hinge
* Name: Kaboodle Bi-Fold Hinge.
* Angle: Connects two door panels that fold in on themselves. The main opening angle of the cabinet door itself would typically be wider (e.g., 170°).
* Function: Specifically used for "bi-fold" or "pie-cut" corner cabinets where two door panels are hinged together and fold back to open. This allows for full access to the corner storage area.
* Use Case: Corner base cabinets (e.g., 900x900mm corner cabinets) that use two hinged doors to access the corner.
Kaboodle Corner Cabinet Hinge (Pack)
* Name: Kaboodle Corner Cabinet Hinge Pack.
* Angles: Typically includes a mix of wider angle hinges such as 165° and 135° hinges.
* Function: This pack is designed for a corner wall cabinet (often a "blind corner" or a corner cabinet that doesn't use the bi-fold system). The combination of different wider opening angles allows the doors to clear adjacent cabinets and open sufficiently for access into the corner. These are effectively specialised full overlay hinges with wider opening capabilities.
* Use Case: Specific Kaboodle corner wall cabinets. Note that Kaboodle strongly recommends their "Corner Door Roller Catch" to prevent sagging with these wider opening hinges.
Kaboodle Blind Corner Cabinet Hinge
* Name: Kaboodle Blind Corner Cabinet Hinge (also available as "Soft Close Blind Corner Hinge").
* Angle: Typically around 90-95°.
* Function: This hinge is used for a "blind corner" base cabinet. These cabinets extend into a corner, but the opening is only on one side. The hinge allows the door to open away from the cabinet and then a second attached panel often swings out to reveal the "blind" section, or the door itself is designed to open wide enough to allow access past the adjacent cabinet.
* Use Case: Specifically for Kaboodle "blind corner" base cabinets. The soft-close version adds the quiet closing functionality.
Kaboodle Slimline Cabinet Hinge Pack
* Name: Kaboodle Slimline Cabinet Hinge Pack.
* Angle: Standard (likely 110°).
* Function: Designed for their "Slimline" range of cabinets, which have a reduced depth. These hinges are likely standard full overlay hinges but sized or configured appropriately for the thinner cabinet construction.
* Use Case: Kaboodle's Slimline range of cabinets.
Important Considerations for Kaboodle Hinges:
* Full Overlay Focus: Kaboodle primarily uses full overlay style hinges because their cabinet carcases are generally designed as frameless (Euro-style) systems. This means the doors sit directly on the front of the cabinet box, covering the entire edge.
* No Inset or Half-Overlay: You generally won't find specific "inset" or "half-overlay" hinges directly labelled by Kaboodle because their standard cabinet system doesn't typically utilise those door overlay types. If you wanted to achieve those looks with Kaboodle, you'd likely be looking at custom door sizes and potentially sourcing third-party hinges.
* Hettich Partnership: Kaboodle partners with Hettich, a leading German hardware manufacturer, for their premium hinge and runner options. This means you can often upgrade to higher-quality, more robust hardware within the Kaboodle system.
* Adjustability: All Kaboodle European hinges will offer 3-way adjustment (vertical, horizontal, and depth) for perfect door alignment.
* Clip-On Feature: Most, if not all, Kaboodle hinges are "clip-on" or "quick-release," making installation and removal simple.
When planning a Kaboodle kitchen, it's best to consult their current product guides or speak to a Bunnings kitchen consultant, as their exact offerings and specific hinge codes can sometimes change.
Some great information here @RichardA36.
Cabinet hinges were a bit of a mystery to me for a long time. There are so many different types that all look much the same, so this sort of info that details the different types and functions is fantastic for clarifying what you should be looking for.
My article, How to replace kitchen cabinet door hinges has some more information along the same lines.
Thank you for sharing.

Thanks you, the illustrations were most informative. I liked the approach and the Q@A afterwards answered questions I would have asked.
