How to change kitchen cabinetry to shaker-style?

Kitchen :      White laminex cabinets....reasonably good condition considering age of kitchen. Plain doors.....wanting to change to 'Shaker' by adding borders.   Has anyone done this project.....what materials did you use from Bunnings

Hello @M3gz

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your kitchen cabinet doors.

One of our members has actually transformed their kitchen doors into shaker style. I recommend having a look at this discussion -Kitchen reno with paint and ply by @LizzieCro. It's an excellent example of transforming your existing doors into another style. They were kind enough to put in a materials list in one of their answers, so you'll have a good idea of what they used for their project.

Here are three more discussions in regards to shaker style doors:

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: How to change kitchen cabinetry to shaker-style?

Thank you EricL....the posts are very helpful.  I figured, this should not be an expensive project, or difficult to tackle.....and it will freshen up the look.  l assumed l could use  ply.....but, wondered about other woods.......ie available in width size lengths. Still not sure about 'painting' the laminex though?

Thank you for your help. Wish l'd joined this community long before now.

Please do not hesitate to post questions that come to your mind. Wood type, paint brands and adhesives to use are all part of the project.
