I am considering buying a benchtop dishwasher, but am not sure what is currently available so as to connect the hose to the kitchen tap.
5 years ago (YouTube video) a person could buy two parts to make that connection: a) Sink Tap Click On and b) NYLEX brass sprinkler adapter.
Bunnings seems to not sell either anymore.
IMAGES BELOW:
1) MY KITCHEN TAP: Is this ideal for a dishwasher hose to be attached and also easy enough to take the aerator off?
2) TAP CONNECTIONS YOUTUBE:
This is what BUNNINGS sold 5 years ago so are these still available or is something else now in their place?
3) HOSE HOLDER(?): What is holding this hose up? Does Bunnings sell anything like this, also, a contraption that can keep the drain hose fixed to the sink area whilst the dishwasher is on.
The USA has this fantastic 3 in one tap connector that is a part of the dishwasher components/parts/kit when sold and it is such a shame that is not available here as it keeps the drain hose in place to face down the sink plus you can press a red button so as to get a glass of water etc.
Anyways, to reiterate, what is available now so that I can attach the hose to the kitchen tap? Don't want to buy anything if it is going to be a hassle getting tap connection parts.
Thanks!
Still waiting on the dishwasher, but I did manage to unscrew the outer chrome, and there's a tiny bit of threading. Useless for the hose?
Hi @bellamoure,
Unfortunately, it's unlikely that the thread would be large enough in diameter to attach the hose to. Just to confirm, is the aerator thread anywhere near 19-20mm?
It's fairly likely that you'll have to use a Pope Indoor Tap Adaptor to connect to that thread, then a Pope 12mm 20mm Sprinkler Adaptor American Thread and 12mm Double Ended Hose Connector to adapt the connector hose so it can be connected.
Jacob
It's about closer to 23-24mm by my measurement.
So if I'm understanding right, I'd remove that outer chrome tap bit again and replace it with the Pope Indoor Tap Adaptor, then the Sprinkler Adaptor would screw into the dishwasher's inlet hose, then they'd both connect using the Double Ended Hose Connector?
Hello @bellamoure
Yes, that is correct you have the sequence correctly assembled in your description. My best advice is to make sure that the fittings are firm and secure but not overly tight.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Eric
Thanks for all of your help so far!
I finally got the dishwasher, and 2 of the 3 parts fit perfectly. Unfortunately, the Pope 12mm 20mm Sprinkler Adaptor American Thread didn't quite fit in the provided inlet hose. I can't get it in any furhter than this, and it's a very tight and awkward fit. Plus, all the water leaks out.
Would this Pope Universal Sprinkler Adaptor fit better, maybe? Or will I need a different inlet hose?
Hello @bellamoure
If the Pope 12mm 20mm Sprinkler Adaptor American Thread did not sit properly. Please try the Pope Universal Sprinkler Adaptor and make sure to use plumber's tape on the threaded section of the adaptor.
Eric
Thanks, it's working perfectly! I really appreciate this! Hoping this might help someone else too some day.
I have just bought a Devanti 6 place benchtop dishwasher but I need a connector to connect it to my kitchen tap. I’ve tried understanding the other explanations on bunnings workshop but they don’t make sense to me.
also the instruction manual for the Devanti says it requires a 3/4 connector…but I bought a Kinetic Dishwasher/Washing machine adaptor to suit 1/2” nut and tail today and it screwed into the dishwasher hose…..
My tap seems to be female and the dishwasher hose seems to be female I think.
this is a photo of my kitchen tap with the aerator still screwed in….
Hi @jab89,
The Kinetic 19mm Dishwasher Adaptor has a male 19mm BSP thread, which is equivalent to 3/4 inch, so it makes sense that the hose would connect to it.
The female thread in your adaptor is 1/2 inch, which works with 15mm metric fittings, so we'd need to find a way to adapt from the female thread in your tap to that 1/2 inch female thread in the adaptor.
Female to female threaded connections are made using a plumbing part called a nipple. If the female thread in your tap is also 15mm, you would use a 15mm Nipple. If the thread in the tap is larger, you would use Reducing Hex Nipple.
So, essentially, we need to know what the size of the thread is in your tap to select the correct part. If you can remove the aerator from your tap and measure the diameter of the opening, I could certainly point you in the right direction.
Let me know what you find.
Jacob
Hi Jacob,
is there just one item that I can buy that can connect the hose to the tap? All the other posts say I need about 3-4 items all joined together. ChatGPT seems to think I can buy a M24 → ¾″ BSP brass adaptor but I couldn’t find anything like that that existed in bunnings yesterday.
also measured the aerator and it depends where the measurements are from - inside the black washer or from edge to edge…anywhere from 15-20mm. I read on another community post from a different bunnings guy though that this wasn’t an accurate way of measuring tap size which was another reason I was confused. Between all the different community posts there is a lot of contradiction and no one seems to be able to help connect a counter top dishwasher easily these days.
