A few months ago our kitchen tap was leaking from the base of the swivel. From what I could find, the best advice was to replace it. I bought the same tap from bunnings and installed it myself.
It was all good at first, but now it doesn't swivel freely and I'm wondering if I did something wrong or maybe the tap is defective?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @7df93kd. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about sink mixers.
There’s not much I can think of that you could have done wrong during the installation, unless you extremely over-tightened the nut beneath the sink that holds the mixer to the benchtop. Since it was working fine at first, that’s a good sign it wasn’t over-tightened. The fact that it’s no longer swivelling freely points to something internal that’s preventing smooth movement, which could mean the tap itself is defective. Does it not move at all, or is it just a little stiff? You could try squirting a small amount of WD-40 around the base to see if it frees things up, but make sure to protect the benchtop and sink to avoid any staining.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

It started out a little stiff and has gotten progressive worse over time. It got to the point where moving the tap actually moved the WHOLE tap a little bit before the faucet itself would start to swivel. I tried tightening it up, which helped for a week or two, but now it's so bad it moves quite a bit before the tap actually swivels. It's degrading over time and I need to address it ASAP.
That sounds like an internal issue in the tap body @7df93kd. Depending on how long ago you purchased the tap, I'd suggest returning it to the store of purchase to see if it can be swapped over under warranty for you.
