Hello there
I hope to ask for an advice about my newly installed matt laminate benchtop by a professional cabinet maker.
These marks are hovering around the installation edges between different pieces of bench tops. Currently it's day 3 post installation and the marks are persisting.
Cabinet maker claimed the marks will go away in 1 month. He claimed they are silicone marks.
My question is, if I were to try gentle cleaning, what is a safe way to do it without compromising the Benchtop?
Thanks again.
Grace
Hello @Grace08
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your benchtop.
The silicone currently on your laminate top is a very fine film of silicone, this is usually put in to seal the fine joint of the benchtops. It also prevents water and moisture ingress preventing the benchtop from curling or lifting. You can in theory use some silicone remover, but it might affect the seal at the joint as well which would defeat the purpose of putting silicone on. I can only suggest using water and detergent along with a foam scrubber. Eventually the fine silicone film will lift and peel off.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
