Hi,
Im about to remove an old free standing cooker and replace with separate hob and oven. I have the oven carcass that will fit the spac eof the old cooker and take the new over and hob. I also have a spare piece of the stone bench top that i am planing on cutting in a strip to the front and rear of the carcass so the hob will fit into. ( note, I have been working with sandstone for 30 years so have an idea of how to do it and the cutting tools for the stone.) My question is what adhesive / grout should i use for the two stone strips that will handle the heat from the oven / hob? The strips will be apporx. 600mm x 40mm x thinkness of stone.
Thanks
Hi @Noicey,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
I can't say I'm 100% sure about that one, but I suspect a high-strength construction adhesive such as this SikaBond Techgrip Polyurethane Adhesive would be along the right lines.
Being on the underside of the benchtop, it wouldn't be exposed to high temperatures, so I don't think a high-temp adhesive is required, but please allow me to get in touch with our suppliers when they reopen either tomorrow or Tuesday (due to the public holiday in parts of Australia), so I can ensure I am giving you the correct information.
I will be back in touch when I have further information.
