Re: How to enclose alfreso area?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @WarrenEnglish1. It's marvellous to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about enclosing a space.

You can certainly enclose an alfresco area, although how far you take it depends on the type of space you want to create. It helps to think about whether you are aiming for something simple like Bistro blinds to keep the weather out or whether you are imagining a more permanent room with solid walls. Both approaches are possible, but they sit at very different levels of complexity.

Bistro blinds are the easiest path. They give you good protection from wind and rain and would make the space comfortable enough for a television room without major structural changes. A permanent enclosure is also achievable, although it becomes a more involved project. You have a couple of different roof types meeting in that space, so adding solid walls and sealing everything properly would require a builder to assess how the new walls would tie into the existing structures. Patios are rarely designed with full enclosures in mind, which is why weather sealing them correctly can be tricky.

So yes, you can absolutely enclose it. The right approach really depends on how permanent you want the space to be and how much construction work you are comfortable considering.

Here's a helpful guide: How to install Bistro blinds.
