I have a 55" TV on a fixed wall bracket and need help figuring out what sort of bracket is and how to get the TV off.
It's hard to see behind the TV but here are a few photos.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @sue_thomas. It's sensational to have you join us and many thanks for your question on removing a TV.
Typically, most TVs will lift straight up off their wall bracket. However, many brackets have a locking mechanism designed to prevent the TV from being accidentally pushed off, often as a child safety feature. You’ll need to check behind the TV to see if there’s any kind of lock that needs to be undone first. Different manufacturers use different systems—some have a bar that pushes in from behind to lock the TV, others may have a small screw, and in some cases, the lock might not have been installed at all, as they can be tricky to fit. From your images, I can't make out any locking mechanism.
It’s a good idea to have another person help by gently trying to lift the TV straight up. If it doesn’t come off easily, you’ll need to explore further to determine how it’s secured to the bracket before attempting to remove it.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
