I am wanting to remove some fixed shelves from my wardrobe. I can’t see how the are attached to the frame, no screws etc. are they biscuit joins? How do I remove? Thanks for any help
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @oliviak. It's sensational to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about removing shelving.
A few photos of the shelves and where they meet the wardrobe frame would be really helpful for our members in working out how the unit is constructed. If you need a hand uploading them, I’m happy to walk you through the process.
It’s possible biscuit joints or even dowels have been used, especially if the unit came pre-assembled. Flat-pack units, on the other hand, typically use screws or pins. Sometimes you'll find that the midshelves are held in place with internal hidden pins, and the carcass sides and top and bottom are screwed together. To release the shelf, you'd need to disassemble the unit.
If there are no brackets or other visible fixings, you may need to cut the shelves out, following along the joint with a timber saw. This will minimise damage to the surrounding panels while freeing the shelf.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
