Ikonic Norr wiggle/movement in doorhane

Hi,

I have just installed the Ikonic Norr door lever privacy set in my door. The side without the privacy button has 2-3mm room between the lever and the part that goes into the door, causing it to wiggle. I see no way of adjusting this, and in the door it’s rattling? This video shows it: Video with lever movement

Re: Ikonic Norr wiggle/movement in doorhane

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @rvdblink. It's marvellous to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about door handles.

It’s a little hard to tell exactly what’s going on just from the video, but there does appear to be some play there that you wouldn’t normally expect. From what it looks like, the lever may not be fully seated into the internal mechanism. It almost appears to be sitting partway in, rather than fully inserted as it should be.

I’d suggest taking the handle apart completely and reinstalling it again step by step, following the instructions closely. It’s possible that something isn’t lining up correctly during assembly, which is stopping the lever from engaging fully with the mechanism. That small gap between the handle and the body is a good indicator that it may be worth checking whether it can be pushed or seated further in during reassembly. Once installed correctly, you shouldn’t be seeing that amount of wiggle or rattling.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

 Hi Mitchell,

I have now done that three times, and as you can see from below picture, the assembly is correct. However, the movement is still there.

Thanks for coming back with the update and the photo @rvdblink. If you’ve now stripped it down and reassembled it a few times and everything is installed as per the instructions, then at that point it’s very unlikely to be an installation issue on your side. You definitely shouldn’t be getting that amount of movement or rattling once the handle is correctly seated.

In this situation, the most likely explanation is a tolerance or manufacturing issue with that particular handle set. There isn’t really an adjustment built into these levers to take up that kind of play, so there’s nothing you’re missing or can tweak to resolve it. The best next step would be to take the handle back to your local Bunnings store and let the team know what’s happening. They can check another boxed set to see if the same movement is present and organise a replacement or refund if it turns out to be faulty.
