Finding My Feet

Basic outdoor shower idea

Hey there -- hope you're well!

I have a super basic outdoor bath and was looking to create an equally as basic outdoor shower.

This is the bath setup. The hose on the left provides hot water, and the hose on the right provides cold water.

What I was looking to build was an outdoor shower setup, where you just plug in the hot and cold hoses when you want to use it, with the ability to change temperature etc.

I will build the wall for the shower fittings to be attached to, it will be going somewhere in this part of my garden:

What I was wondering, what fittings would be required for me to connect these two hoses to a shower setup? They would only need to be plugged into the shower whilst in use, similarly to the bath. In regards to draining, I was happy for it to just drain straight into our garden.

Let me know your thoughts!

Cheers,

Chris

Re: Basic Outdoor Shower Idea

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community Chris (@httpmrchris). It's fantastic to have you join us and many thanks for your question.

That sounds like a great project you have there. I trust most members would love an outdoor shower and will be keen to follow along with your build.

I'd recommend having a look through these previous discussions on outdoor showers:

There are a few basic elements involved in this system. The best depiction of this I have seen is from @redracer01 and his design, I'll include the image from his discussion below. The only addition to run a mixture of both hot and cold water would be a Holman  2 Way Metal Tap Outlet. You would place this where he has illustrated the garden hose adaptor. This will allow you to connect both hoses and mix them together with the valves. You'll find all the recommended products for the build in his discussion.

Please let us know what you think of this design and if you have questions.

Re: Basic outdoor shower idea

Hello @httpmrchris

Is there a possibility you can take a panoramic shot of the area so that I can have better idea of how close the tub and shower are? I only ask as I have a few suggestions for the layout of the out door shower.

Thanks,

Red

Re: Basic outdoor shower idea

@Noyade, those self-contained outdoor showers are fantastic. We have our own available: Hy-Clor 9L Outdoor Shower and Hy-Clor 20L Outdoor Shower. They'd certainly be a welcome addition to any backyard with a swimming pool, or if you just enjoyed the odd alfresco shower.
