Can you cut decorative screens?

Hi guys, tell me, can the decorative screens be cut down at all and then frames reattached? The problem I have is 2 x 2 metre gaps I want to infill but the decorative screens are either 1.8 metres or 2.4 metres. I'm going to be setting them lengthways between posts.

Any help, assistance, diagrams, photos would be appreciated.

Re: Decorative screens

Hi @BobHatton,

Could you please link us to the specific decorative screen product you’re planning to use? That will help us give more accurate advice. In general, most decorative panels themselves can be cut down to size, but whether the frames can be adjusted or reattached after cutting is less certain. Generally, they are just c-channels that can also be cut down. If you can provide the product details, we can check with the manufacturer and let you know what’s possible regarding frame modifications.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Decorative screens

Yes, the screen and frame can be cut down on that product, @BobHatton. They are not designed specifically to have that done, but it is possible.

Re: Decorative screens

Thanks Mitchell - good to know. It would be even better if there was a screen of some description that 2 metres long rather than 2.4.

Do you know of any other options we can look at? It's to go between two posts to screen an outdoor area.

Thanks.

Re: Decorative screens

Any chance you could attach vertical lengths of 140 x 19mm SpecRite Merbau Pre-Oiled Decking - Random Lengths to the face of your posts? That would reduce the gap to 1800mm, allowing you to use the 1800mm panels. I've created the rendering below to illustrate.

Re: Decorative screens
