Kids always wanted a tree house, so our only option was to build a cubby house. It sits in the middle of the backyard so we wanted to make a feature point of it, kids loved now spend endless hours there every week!
All outdoor timber treated from Bunnings, paint form Deluxe. 70x35, metal roof sheeting, semi transparent roof sheeting, external plywood. Second hand kitchen sink. Pre mixed concrete bags.
Screw driver, nails, screws, paint brush and masking tape.
We started by talking to the neighbours and they were ok with the idea, as they enjoy seeing kids being kids. Next we had a friend who came over to help us to dig the foundation holes as our soil is pretty compacted and clear up some of the soil for the sand.
Next was time to concrete the posts and then install the joists.
We used exterior plywood for the flooring. It was like that for a feel weeks and it was already a success. Then the boys fill up the bottom with sandpit sand.
Platform was already a success.
We assembled the walls on the floor then lift them into place.
Roofing was on and it was time for the plywood for the walls
Once all the walls were on it was time to prime the plywood.
then the fun part! painting!
time to enjoy!
Hi @SamNZ,
What a fantastic cubby house you have made for your boys.
I am sure it will play host to many imaginative adventures for years to come.
I love the design and the bright but also subtle colours you have chosen.
Thank you for sharing this fantastic cubbyhouse project.
