Fence refresh using paint

Fence refresh using paint

We recently moved into our 1950s home and realised it was in desperate need of a new back fence and a paint refresh. Due to the poor condition of the far-back fence, we had to hire trades to replace this portion of the fence, but we are glad that we did.

Steps

Step 1

Prep:

  • Using hedge shears - cut back the overhang from any plants on the fence line
  • Mow the grass
  • Give the fence a good wash and brush with a broom to get most if not all dirt off.

Step 2

Mix your paint and water ratio accordingly - we diluted by about 5%

Step 3

Taking our time, we sprayed the fence with the nozzle at an angle with two coats. Using the cardboard, we made sure there was no extra spray going onto our neighbour's plants or pergolas. We left a day in between coats to ensure it dried properly.

Step 4

Not only does the refresh give some new life into our tired fence, but also makes the yard appear larger.

Next up is our fit pit area in the back corner. Watch this space!

Much tider! and yes it does look larger  I love it when a yard that is a little tired is brought back to something we like hanging out in.

Cant wait to see the next step

Re: Fence refresh using paint

Hi @Tinker_Bell

Thanks for sharing the steps and photos of your fence revamping project. Using paint is a great way to refresh an area without having to spend a great deal. Trimming the overhanging plants has really helped the overall look of the area as more light is coming into the area. It definitely makes the area look much larger.

Please keep us updated with your progress, we look forward to seeing the start of your fire pit area.

See something interesting? Give it the thumbs up!
