Good Times modular custom or standard frame?

Hi,  I'm intending a build a deck around 5.4m * 2.0m (+/- 10cm) using Good times custom frame (945 * 945) instead of the 1113*1113 standard frame for Ekodeck. Has anyone used this custom frame for your decking which Good Times will cut to size for you and if so, what was your experience with the quality?

I can't find many reviews on the custom frames but the standard frames seem ok enough. Ultimately thinking of whether to get custom frames or buy the standard frames and cut down to size myself. I intend to use long 5.4m ekodeck boards and not the panels. Thanks in advance.

Re: Good Times modular CUSTOM vs Standard (cut to size yourself). What's your experience?

Hi @snipwhip,

I'd say two screws every 600mm will be fine. As long as they are spaced consistently, it will look good.

You probably don't want to line them up with your droppers, just because there's a chance your screws would hit the heads of the screws sitting in your edge joist.

Assuming your edge joist is 45mm thick, you'll still get plenty of screw embedment.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Good point. The top and bottom fascia will be out of alignment but I can live with that. Or I'll buy screw cap covers in brown if it bugs me. Thanks for your help @JacobZ . Appreciate it.

Hi @JacobZ I need to make a semi circular cut into the end of 2 decking boards so it fits the tap pipe. What can I use? I don't have a router, hole saw or jig saw. Is there something I can do without having to buy another power tool? Thanks

Hello @snipwhip

If you have a cordless drill or can borrow one, I propose looking at either the Craftright 8 Piece Spade Bit Set or the Craftright 5 Piece Hole Saw Set if you need to cut a bigger hole. The spade bit can drill a hole up to 32mm and the hole saw set can cut up to 54mm. I suggest visiting your local store and see which one will suite your needs.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
