Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about using a nail gun.
I'm going to be using the Ryobi brad nailer as an example as it is easy to load and use in a short amount of time. But before we begin, please make sure you are wearing personal protection such as gloves and goggles when using and handling the nail gun. At the end of my description is a general guide on how to load and use the nail gun. The Ryobi 18V ONE+ 18GA Brad Nailer comes with many features, too many to list here in this short discussion.
The general procedure is to make sure that the battery is not loaded into the gun. There is a nail slot at the front of the gun with a sliding safety cover that must be pulled down in order to load the nails. The nails must face in the correct direction otherwise the safety cover will not slide shut. Once the slide cover is locked in place the battery can now be loaded in.
