Hi team - can I use Shelleys Exterior wood glue - Aquadhere with black butt wooden battens that have been oiled with Cutex CD50 oil to stick to H3 treated pine (Allso oiled with cutex) ? They were oiled a week ago so they are dry etc. I am using the glue as a secondary hold point, (with screws doing the main structural work) then plan to screw and glue the batten to H3 treated pine on the side of a deck. Advice would be lovely - thank you !
Hi @nos,
I'd probably go with a construction adhesive like Liquid Nails. However, that oil is really creating a physical barrier, preventing the glue from penetrating the timber pores and adhering adequately. In this situation, you will be heavily relying on the screws as a mechanical fix.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
