How to build a small deck using Decko footings?

I pan building a deck platform using concrete DECKO footings. The deck platform will roughly be 3.5m x 1.5m. I am wondering:

What will the frame structure under the deck look like?

What wood will I use for the frame structure?

What screws are best used when using merbau wood?

When placing the DECKO concrete, do they sit on gravel or do I need to cement them in?

How many DECKO concrete footings do I need for a high traffic area? (the deck will not have any furniture on it)

Thank you again,

Sam

Re: Deck

Hi @Samc1234,

Yes, the 140x45 as shown in the Hyne Timbers Joist Span Table, can span up to 2600mm between supports.

You can then set your blocks around 300mm or so from the ends of the joists, so that they are not visible from the outside.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Re: Deck

Hi @Samc1234,

For framing connections, use these Buildex® 14G x 100mm Class 4 Bugle Batten Screws, and to attach your decking boards to the frame, use Titan 10G x 50mm 304 Stainless Steel Wide Head Decking Screws.

I'd suggest using a 4mm Long Series Drill Bit to drill pilot holes for the batten screws and a Kango 10G Adjustable Countersink Drill Bit Set to drill pilot holes for the decking screws. The long series bit is long enough to create a full-depth pilot hole for the batten screws, which will greatly reduce the risk of splitting the timber, and the countersink bit will both drill and countersink the holes in your decking boards, so the screw head sits flush with the surface.

Let me know if there is anything else you need assistance with.

Jacob
