How to fix Arlec Premium Sensor Wall Light?

Hi, I bought couple of Arlec Premium Sensor Wall Light (Solar Powered) and installed them on the entrance walkway pillars. Both the lights have 5 meters motion detection range but it doesn't detect motion unless your are anywhere between a feet or meter from the light sensor. 

 

It has 3 modes but I have chosen the "Security High Brightness with Motion Sensor" mode, which requires switching on the light and pressing the On/Off button 3 times. 

 

The process I follow is:

1. Long press the On/Off button to switch on the light, which the blinks thrice.

2. Press the On/Off button 2 more times, assuming the initial long press defaults to a single press.

 

It doesn't work. I thought I would check here first on if I am doing something incorrectly, before I return the lights to the store due to faulty.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

 

Firstly, has the light sat in the sun to charge up the batteries? I would assume it would need to get some sun on the solar panel before it will function to its full ability. If not, place it in a sunny area for some time before trying again.

 

The way I am interpreting these instructions is that the initial long press to turn the light on does not count as part of the three presses that select the high brightness mode. Try turning it on with a long press, waiting a few seconds then pressing the button three times. You should be able to discern the difference in the light level to tell you it has worked correctly.

 

If after charging and troubleshooting, it still doesn't work, it could be a faulty unit, in which case you should return it with your receipt for a replacement or refund.
