Hi
I just had fence done and it was terrible job. I am now left to fix it but unsure what to do.
Concrete used for the post and nails needed which one are they please. I have attached pictures.
I also don't know if to add another rail at the bottom.
Is there way to call you
paula
Hi @paula24,
A 32mm nail would be fine if you had a single layer of palings, but you don't; you have lapped palings. Where the palings are overlapping, they will be approximately 32mm, so a 32mm nail wouldn't even get through them into the fence rail.
You can use either Paslode 50 x 2.5mm Impulse Hot Dip Galvanised Ring Shank Coil Nails or Titan 50 x 2.5mm Hot Dipped Galvanised Collated Coil Nails, depending on what is available in your store.
Let me know if you have further questions.

Some of nails saying cladding
Confused
Hi @paula24,
Coil nails can be used for multiple purposes, with cladding and fencing being two of them.
Either of the options I mentioned would be fine.
Jacob
Sorry can I use this or not really. Seems very good price
Paula
Hi @paula24,
Not really, they aren't long enough to go through the two palings into the fence rail.
You need 50mm nails.
Jacob
Sorry for asking 2 many questions. I dont see fence paling been overlaping. Confused. Staff member at bunnings told me 32. Anyway meeting tradesman tomorrow I will let him know. I will attach another photo hope that helps
Paula
Hello @paula24
It's perfectly ok to keep asking your questions. Your fence has been built with timber palings going over one another, this process of the timber paling going over one another is called overlapping.
The typical timber paling is 16mm thick and when they go over one another you get a thickness of 32mm. In order for the nail to anchor onto the fence rail it has to be longer than 32mm. This is why Jacob has suggested using a 50mm nail. The extra length of the nail will anchor it to the fence rail. Once your handy person arrives you can ask them to explain in detail why a longer nail is needed.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Not sure if u got this picture..we didn't use plinth
Hello @paula24
If you are nailing the bottom section where there are no rails, then a 32mm nail should work nicely to join the palings together. However, a temporary support piece might need to be placed at the back, otherwise the nailing the palings together might be too difficult as the surface will be too bouncy.
