Old table I have outside.
Probably from the early 1970's.
Extendable ends.
There appears to be mortise and tenon joints involved?
Thoughts on how to strengthen them?

This shows the tenon spreading...
Cut them in half.
Drill 8mm holes in the middle.
Insert/weld 8mm rod. Cut threads at the ends.

The weirdest thing - was when I cut the pipe - I looked into it and saw this.
Absolutely no idea of its purpose. Appears to be spot welded in place...

Could be a support piece or custom fitting piece to hold the pipe in place? It definitely would have served some sort of purpose otherwise they would have installed it.
