How to prepare a concrete pot for painting?

Hi! I'm wanting to paint some old concrete pots which will kept out in the weather. Just looking for some advice on the best primer and paint for the job. Thanks!

Re: How to prepare a concrete pot for painting.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Chantal. It's fantastic to have you join us and many thanks for your question.

I would advise using an exterior acrylic paint such as Dulux Weathershield. It's suitable for masonry and can be tinted to a variety of different colours. This is a self-priming paint, so there is no need to prime separately.

Using Crommelin 750ml Ornamental Sealer outside or inside the pot before painting will ensure the paints' longevity. This sealer will prevent water permeating through the concrete and trying to push off the paint that you've applied.

I look forward to seeing your results and would encourage you to share them with us when you're done.

Mitchell
