Low-level deck over concrete slab

Hi new member who is interested in low level deck on concrete slab but have very little clearance at my doorway threshold. Has anyone got any advice as I don’t want to step down into the house from the decking, attached photos

Re: Low-level deck over concrete

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @englishd. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question on low-level decking.

There doesn't appear to be enough room to create a traditional deck with your height requirements. What is the total working height from the Pebblecrete to the top of the door threshold? If you were to create a deck here, you'd likely be placing timber directly on the Pebblecrete and cladding it.

You might like to read through @Adam_W's article on How to build a low-level deck, where he discusses the need for air circulation and drainage under a deck.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks for your comments Mitchell, what do you think about cutout of the decking and stepping down to the doorway?

Re: Low-level deck over concrete

That's certainly an option @englishd, but as a general rule, you don't want a step right next to a doorway as it can become a trip hazard. You might like to lay an area outside the door at the same level and then step up onto the deck after that.
