Mounting hose hanger onto fibre cement

Hi team,

Looking for some advise here before I destroy my house! 🙈

I want to mount this: Haxbury Black Scroll Hose Hanger

On the wall in attached image.

Wall is made of this fibre cement stuff, quite sure it's Scyon Stria 325mm

Red line is where i "think" there is a stud, stud finder just won't pick up anything through this wall, I'm confident I can mark out a stud from the inside wall.

So was thinking top bracket into the stud then side brackets just into the FC.

Unless there's a better way, or other things to consider?

What screws would I use for the stud and just the FC?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Mounting hose hanger onto fibre cement

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @diy_whoopsy. It's great to have you join us and many thanks for your question.

As this is just a hose hanger with no particular forces being applied to it, I believe what you have described will be adequate for mounting. I would advise using a coach screw into the timber stud and Tapcon screws into the FC board. The coach screw will bear the weight of the hose and the Tapcons will support the hanger. The Scyon Stria 325mm is 14mm thick and I believe the Tapcon screws will grip onto it well.

If you really wanted to make sure the hose hanger wasn't going anywhere, then you could drill an additional hole in the middle arm so you have two coach screws going into the stud. This would stop the hanger twisting and putting a strain on the Tapcons in the FC board.

Please let me know if you need further assistance or had any questions.

Hey Mitchell,

Very helpful thanks! used the screws you suggested, probably wouldn't hang off it, but it quite sturdy for what's needed!

Ps found a 2nd stud, hurray!
