South beach courtyard with plunge pool

South beach courtyard with plunge pool

4.5mtx4mt internal courtyard on only a 127sqmt lot.

I was hoping to have small plunge pool installed but sewer and other services were below underground. Also all above ground pools on the market were too big, so I had to come up with an alternative. I had a vision of making my own out of a 1.5mt x .900 planter that are usually used in streets scape or commercial areas.

I sealed, waterproofed, tiled and had it plumbed and the end product came out amazing. Also had a very big and ugly hot water system to hide using joinery.

It's a wonderful space that we use all year round.

Materials

Bunnings product used were structural timber, quickset concrete, plumbing fixtures, blue metal, rainbowstone, deck fixings, Cromwell's sealer and waterproofing, paint, wood stain, pots, plants, retic pipe and fittings, pave set, trellis kits.

Tools

Makita cordless drill and dropsaw.

Various hand tools.

Paint rollers and brushes.

@Starfishlane  this looks bloody amazing! Love what you have done with the space and has me thinking about a space at my house.
Do you happen to have the specs of the pump and filtration you used for the pool?

cheers

Hello @benquick88

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. Its wonderful to have you join us.

Let me tag @Starfishlane as well to make sure that they are made aware of your kind words and question. The store does carry pool pumps and sand filters, but its always best to match the size of your pool to the pump and filter you'll be using.

If you need further assistance, please let us know

Eric

See something interesting? Give it the thumbs up!

Re: South beach courtyard with plunge pool

 @EricL @benquick88  Thanks guys.

Hey Ben, specs for pool equipment was an Astral Pool E140 .5hp and Astral XC50 cartridge filter. Basically smallest equipment you can buy. Sand filters were all too big to fit under deck.

Also installed Haywood inline tablet feeder for input of chemicals. I use the Bunnings Barracuda brand of Bromine tablets instead of chlorine. No irritation or smell. Just pop a few into the feeder.

Regular water testing will let you know when to top up.

Good morning @Starfishlane

Whoops, missed your response 😕 That is some serious tiling that has been done beautifully. 2K isnt bad at all for the size of the "pot" lol Lightweight would make it easier tho tiling would havbe added some decent weight.

Your whole area really makes me want to get back and continue with my courtyard styled project

Re: South beach courtyard with plunge pool

Hi 👋

Beautiful project you've created here. Well done! Could you please send me the specs of the planter you installed? I have looked at a few but they have different sizes and shapes, such as U planters, Tall planters etc. Link would be great if possible. Also how many people would it fit? 2 I'm guessing? Thank you.
